This one is from a 2022 appointment article on the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce's website Ros was appointed as Principal and CEO of the Isle of Wight College in September 2022. She was previously Principal of Southend Adult Community College and prior to that she was the Principal of Prospects College of Advanced Technology with sites in Basildon, Canvey Island and Ilford. Ros returned to learning as a single mum gaining qualifications and soon teaching creative writing, English and dance and drama with special needs groups, she also led community based family learning projects in Children and Family Centres, schools and prisons. Ros studied evening and weekends to achieve her BA Honours degree and then her Masters in Education and Training Management with the University of Portsmouth. Ros is married and enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She writes for pleasure, enjoys walking, kayaking and is a volunteer for Meows cat and kitten rescue and has enjoyed volunteering for community radio stations. |
Previous Principals/CEOsDebbie LavinDebbie was appointed Principal, The Isle of Wight College in January 2004. She was previously at Braintree College, initially as Curriculum Manager (4 years) before becoming Assistant Principal (4 years). From 1994 to 1996 she lectured at South East Essex College teaching Business, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism. She attended Bolton University to complete teacher training in 1993, whilst teaching part-time at St. Helens College in Business and Hospitality. Prior to entering education, she was a self-employed hotelier in Llandudno, North Wales, and worked in a variety of management roles at Blackpool Tower, Welsh Mountain Zoo and Marks & Spencer. Debbie’s qualifications include: LSIS Principals Qualifying Programme, Masters in Business Administration, Institute of Personnel Development IPD, Certificate in Education and BTEC National Diploma. She is married with two children, lives on the Isle of Wight and was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2011. |
