He qualified as a teacher at Newcastle University, after gaining a degree in Agriculture and Environmental Science. Education has always been his passion, although he loved working in the private sector and became the first graduate management trainee at Marks & Spencer's flagship Marble Arch store. In July 2003, he was appointed to set up Crossways Academy, Lewisham which became a CISCO world reference site for use of ICT in education, as well as providing a template for integrated smart building technology.
