Karen has worked in the further education sector for more than 30 years and has spent the majority of this time in senior roles at CEO/Principal or Deputy Principal level. The colleges she has worked in are very diverse in size (£14m – £60m turnover) and specialisms (academic, vocational, 16-18, adults, HE, apprenticeships, traineeships, commercial, international). Karen has served on a number of regional and national boards including the North East LEP and the AoC Board. Karen currently chairs the AoC national policy group for apprenticeships.
Karen is a member of the West London Business board, where she represents all FE colleges in the sub-region. Karen is currently undertaking a PhD in educational policy reform and is alumna of Oxford University Said Business School. Karen was awarded an OBE in 2019 for services to Further Education.
