John currently sits on a number of education, skills and economic development boards in Essex, where he chairs the “Thurrock Skills Task Force” and the Federation of Essex Colleges, SEND Sub-group. John is a Chemistry graduate, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in this field at the University of Central Lancashire in 1992, gaining significant experience within the chemical engineering sector. He also has extensive teaching experience in both FE and HE and is a qualified assessor. Prior to his most recent role, as Vice Principal at USP College in Essex, John started his career in education as a Lecturer in Science, Chemistry and IT at the University of Central Lancashire before moving to Seevic College in 1994 to become Head of Science. He then joined the Senior Leadership Team 4 years later as Director of Information Systems before becoming Vice Principal in July 2010.
